Professor Parga has been a visiting critic and lecturer at various universities, works as a writer on architecture theory and criticism, and was the promoter and editor in chief of the academic and research journal 115Días (2014-17).īefore joining Syracuse University in 2017, Professor Parga was an Assistant Professor at Madrid Polytechnic University School of Architecture (ETSAM), where he was a member of the Habitat’s Culture Research Group, a multidisciplinary platform focused on examining emerging domestic ecologies in densified urban areas. Through his studios at Syracuse SoA, he investigates emerging models of urban commons and new forms of domestic aggregations, questioning the political role of architects in shaping those alternative realities. His current research explores alternative ways of practicing and evaluating the architecture of the collective, considering the impact of contemporary environmental, political, economic, and social issues on the built environment and its influence on creating the appropriate conditions for certain social changes to occur. Marcos Parga is an international, award winning architect and designer, Assistant Professor at Syracuse University School of Architecture and founding principal of MAPAa, a design practice based in Syracuse and Madrid.
